David says that his is not an uncommon story. He fell in love with drawing as a child and from what he can remember was quite good at it. He then made poor choices of subject at school and pretty much stopped creating any form of art until about 20 years ago.
David works predominantly in oil and his preference is to paint on a larger scale. He loves the way he can manipulate the paint and ‘push it around’ on canvas.
David is fundamentally a figurative painter although he likes to introduce abstract elements to his work. There is a childlike joy in flicking paint around and being playful with colour and still ending up with a recognisable image at the end.
He also enjoys the challenge of painting small expressive works.
He has recently discovered sculpture and is developing a growing portfolio of figurative pieces.
